Surf’s Up: Wilmington Surf Dog Returns Next Week

One of the best parts about being a Wilmington pet photographer is getting to be part of events that celebrate the bond between dogs and their people in such fun and unique ways. Few events capture that spirit better than Wilmington’s Surf Dog Experience, and I am so excited that it returns next week.

When and where: The event takes place next Saturday, September 6th, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. right here in Wilmington at the Carolina Beach Pier. This is not just a day of waves and wagging tails, but a fundraiser with a purpose. The competition raises money for Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue (FBAR), an organization doing incredible work for local pets in need.

Look at our very own tripod, Roux, participating in the last event above! The morning will be packed with plenty of things to do. Along with watching some seriously awesome pups take on the waves, you will find pet vendors and sponsors set up along the beach. I will have my own tent as well, and let’s just say you may want to stop by - I will be hosting a special giveaway for an exciting future session.

Of course, my favorite part will be capturing images of every pup that hits the water. From the seasoned surfers to the wide-eyed first timers, each dog brings their own joy and determination to the board. These are the moments that remind me why I love what I do.

Surf Dog is one of those events that really feels like Wilmington at its best. It is community, joy, and a little bit of sand in your shoes, all for a cause that matters.

If you are local, come join us next Saturday morning and cheer on the dogs. If you cannot make it, be sure to follow along on my social media where I will be sharing highlights from the event.
