Everly from Long Road Home

November has barely started and it already feels like a full season on its own. Between studio sessions and shelter visits, this month has been all about our Seen & Saved initiative and getting as many adoptable pets in front of the camera as possible.

Foster Photo Day at the Studio: 23 Pets, 6 Rescues, One Big Seen & Saved Weekend

During the first weekend of November, the studio had a steady rotation of 23 adoptable pets from six amazing rescues: Wagon Tails Farm Rescue, Dauntless Dog Rescue, Long Road Home, All4Cats, Hamilton's Healing Hearts, and Rescue Connect NC. Each pet walked in with their own history and their own energy, and every single time the camera clicked, you could see a little more of who they really are. That’s the goal of Seen & Saved. The photos help potential adopters connect with them long before they ever meet in person. It gives them a chance to be noticed.

Pender County Humane Society: 22 Pets Waiting for Homes

Last week, I spent a day at Pender County Humane Society photographing another 22 pets, a mix of cats and dogs who have been waiting for the right family to find them. Their portraits are still in the editing queue, but even raw and unpolished, you can already see how much personality each one has. Some were curious, some were nervous, some were little hams who immediately started posing like they’d rehearsed, but all of them were trying in their own way to be chosen.

Forty-five pets photographed in just a couple weeks is a lot of movement. There were treat crumbs in my pockets, squeakers disappearing under backdrops, and more conversations with animals than with actual people. But the purpose behind it makes every moment feel meaningful. Each photo is a chance for someone to stop scrolling long enough to see a pet they might otherwise overlook.

And with the holidays coming up, I’m hoping these portraits help create new stories for these animals. New homes. New beginnings. New families who can’t imagine life without them.
