What Is a Keepsake Box?

If you've ever been to an ordering appointment with me, you've probably seen one in person. But for those who haven't, I want to take a minute to talk about the Keepsake Box because it's one of my favorite products I offer, and I think it deserves a proper introduction.
What It Actually Is
The Keepsake Box is a handcrafted wood box with a tempered glass window on the front, designed to hold a collection of matted prints from your session. It comes in two sizes, 8x10 and 11x14, and is available in walnut, black, and white finishes.
The glass window on the front isn't just decorative. It's designed so that one image sits on display at all times, framed beautifully even when the box is sitting closed on a sideboard or shelf. Your favorite image is always visible, and you can swap it out anytime you want a different look.
Inside, the box holds either 20 or 30 prints depending on the size you choose, all tucked into a luxuriously soft lined interior. There's also space in the lid for a USB drive containing the high resolution digital files that match every image printed in the box. Cotton gloves and a lens cloth are included so your prints stay in perfect condition for years to come.
The Two Sizes and What I Recommend
The 8x10 Box holds prints at 8x10 inches unmatted. I typically recommend going unmatted with this size since adding a mat would bring the actual image down to 5x7, which I find limits how much detail you see in the photo. The 8x10 unmatted gives you a bold, full image that really pops.
The 11x14 Box is the larger of the two and my personal favorite. With mats, your images come in at 10x8, which I think is the sweet spot. The mat adds that gallery-style framing that makes each image feel intentional and finished. It also makes the overall presentation feel more elevated when you're flipping through the collection.

Why I Love This Product
Beyond the craftsmanship, what I love most about the Keepsake Box is what it's built for over time. The prints are there for flipping through on a quiet afternoon. The space in the lid holds the digital files. And as time goes on, the box has room for more than just photos. Collars, tags, a favorite bandana. The small things you hold onto.
I saw this firsthand when Niles and Sarah ordered a Keepsake Box after their session with their Dobermans Kage and Karma. Kage had been diagnosed with terminal lymphoma, and knowing that box would hold their memories and eventually their keepsakes made it feel like exactly the right choice for them. It stuck with me.
