RESCUE WORK
I first discovered pet photography while looking for ways to give back to local rescues, and it completely changed my life. Since then, I’ve partnered with amazing organizations like Paws Place, Long Road Home, Hamilton's Healing Hearts, Rescue Connect NC, Freedom Bridge, and Dauntless Dog Rescue to photograph adoptable pets and help them find their forever homes.
Meet the Human Behind the Treats
Hi, I’m Bre. The heart behind The Photo District.
I discovered pet photography by accident while looking for ways to volunteer with a local rescue. I picked up a secondhand camera, dove headfirst into YouTube tutorials, and quickly realized I’d found what I was meant to do.
Before launching The Photo District in 2023, I worked in corporate data analytics and earned degrees in Animal Science, Business, as well as an MBA. Now, I get to combine my lifelong love for animals with storytelling through photography, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
When I’m not behind the lens, you can find me exploring local spots with my two rescue pups, Isla and Roux, my daily inspiration and constant reminder of why this work matters. My approach to photography is deeply personal. I believe we don’t deserve pets… and yet, they give us everything. Their time with us is short, but I’m here to help you preserve that bond through images that will last a lifetime.

The Pet Project That Stuck
I started The Photo District to blend my love for pets with a mission to support local rescues and help pet families celebrate the deep bond they share.
Fun Fact: The name is inspired by the colorful, creative districts of Wilmington, and I almost called it The Dog District, but didn’t want to leave out all the other amazing pets that brighten our lives.
