Wilmington Works Like a Dog: Launching Our New Social Series

Wilmington is full of people showing up to work every day. In offices, studios, hospitals, shops, and everywhere in between. Behind those jobs are long days, big goals, stressful seasons, and quiet wins that don’t always get seen.
And for a lot of those people, there’s also a pet at home who’s part of it all.
Wilmington Works Like a Dog is a photo series about the people who work in Wilmington and the pets who support them, not by doing the work, but by being there for it. The ones waiting at the door, grounding the hard days, celebrating the good ones, and making the whole thing feel lighter.
The series will be shared weekly on Wednesdays on Instagram and Facebook.
Each feature starts with coffee and a conversation. We’ll chat about what you do, what your work looks like day to day, and who’s in your corner while you do it. Then we’ll take a few photos that capture both sides of that story.
Kicking off the series: Carly and Kobe
The first feature in the series is Carly, the owner of Luminous Boutique, and her pup Kobe.
Carly has been running Luminous Boutique online since 2019 and recently took a big step by opening her first brick-and-mortar storefront in Wilmington’s Cargo District. Like any new storefront, it came with plenty of stress, excitement, and unknowns.
Through all of it, Kobe has been right there. Carly calls him her soul dog, a grounding presence who brings joy and energy into her everyday life. After being rescued from a tough start, it’s clear he’s exactly where he belongs.
Their story captures exactly what this series is about. The work people do, and the pets who quietly support them through every part of it.
